Wedding Card Ideas and Upcoming Blog-A-Versary!!!!

Happy, Happy Weekend!!!! I hope you all are having a wonderful Autumn weekend!!! It's been in the 50*'s and partly cloudy..........hubby and son are working hard on getting all the firewood cut and split and stacked!! We're only half-way through with how much we'll need for the winter though!! The colors are ***just*** starting to turn.......we have a few reds on the Sumac and Oak, but mostly Glorious Gold on all of our Aspens!!! Stay tunes as I'll share some photos when we get our beautiful Fall Colors in full!!!! Here's a couple of pictures from the quick trip hubby and I just took. NOPE!!! It was not to Amarillo after all. Hubby's business meeting there was cancelled, so we just took off for an overnighter a couple hours away near Monarch Ski Area............I love off-season!!!! LOL We did some geocaching and driving and even took a silly photo of us out geocaching in the wind..........it was one of those "hold the camera out in front of you and snap" photos!!!! So don't look too closely!!! LOL

I'm so excited!!!! My nephew and niece-to-be have asked me to make their wedding invitations!!! He is a musician (extremely talented I may add as is the whole family who have 2 CD's out of amazing, amazing Bluegrassy, Folksy music!!!) and she is finishing up her RN program and at the top of her class!!! So her colors are light yellow and ivory with touches of gold. So other than colors, I don't have much direction with style.......so I came up with these 3 just to get her started with some ideas. I'll send them to her since she's a couple of hours away finising school. The wedding is next summer.........so if we can settle on a design she likes pretty soon, it will be nice to have to rush to make them all!!!

NOW...................my Blog-A-Versary is coming up in just a few days!!!! I totally canNOT believe that!!! It's been a year!! A happy, wonderful, creative, special, eventful, fun and amazing year!!!! I can't believe how many equally amazing and creative and special women I've met through this FABulous craft of stamping and also blogging!!!! Thank you all sooooooooooooo much for becoming part of my life!!!! Hmmmmm.............what to offer as Blog Candy???? Well, you all know what a Gina K. addict I am..............sooooooooooooooooooo............why don't we stick with what is just so darn popular???!!!! LOL I know I've had such tremendous response when I post Gina K. Blog Candy!!!!! And since it's perfect time for Autumn stamps.......and Cammie has created a DARLING Whimsical Autumn stamp set and is donating ***ALL*** the profits to The Alzheimer's Association in honor of her amazing Grandmother, how about that adorable stamp set, Whimsical Autumn, along with some other Gina K. goodies I'll throw in??? Embellies and Dp for sure........and then the winner can also let me know if they'd like images from any of the Gina K. stamps I own (most, not quite all! LOL) and I'd be happy to add a bunch of fun images to the package too!!! I'm sooooo blown away by both Cammie and by Gina as she is the most supportive ever of these amazing Stamps For A Cause and her Designers and the special causes that are personal to them! Have you ever seen such a Stamp Company??? It just makes you feel so darn GOOD to help support such wonderful people and be a part of something that truly, truly CAN make a difference to so many others' lives!!! Just leave me a comment here and tell me your favorite Autumn memory!!!! That's it!!! I'll draw a winner Friday, Sept. 19 by 8 p.m. (mountain time!!) and post it on my actual Blog-A-Versary!!! :) And, BTW.................stop by Cammie's Blog.............like all of you already don't! LOL She's having some more tremendous blog candy and information supporting The Alzheimer's Association!!!

  2. My favorite Autumn memory has to be walking in the woods, and looking at all the beautiful Fall colors. Thanks for offering the blog candy and happy blogaversary!

  3. My favourite autumn memory is from when I was a kid. Every autumn my parents would take us at least once to the apple orchard. We'd get to ride the haywagon out to the orchard, climb trees, pick apples, eat all we wanted as we picked, then ride the haywagon back. Mom & Dad would pay for the apples & some apple cider. We'd come home and have hot apple cider. Yum!

  4. I love all of those cards, too. She is going to have a hard time choosing. They all look SO elegant. Great job, girl! Great, fun picture of you and DH, too!

My fav Autumn memory has to be when my Cody was 2. I have SO many pictures of him that year in a Penn State sweatsuit playing in the leaves that his daddy raked up for him. He had curly blonde hair and big blue eyes and a smile that would melt your heart. (ok, he still has most of that -- if he doesn't argue with his mama he still can melt my heart with just a look) LOL

  5. Autumn, what's that??? LOL!! My favorite Autumn memory was the year we decided to have a hay ride even though it would be too hot. We were all in shorts & flip flops. It was a lot of fun, even though it wasn't cold.

Your niece to be is going to have a tough decision. Those are all beautiful!

  6. OH, how I long to have trees that turn colors!! I basically have to see them online because we live in the High Desert (Central Oregon) and have tons of Juniper--YUK. Can't wait to see your lovely pictures--like this one you posted of the brook--soo peaceful!!

I LOVE your 3 card ideas...my favorite (not that it counts) is the top right one. Perfect IMO for a wedding invite. I also love the one with a dress, but maybe for the shower.

SO...a blogaversary already huh?? :) AWESEOME!!!! Well, good luck with making all those invites. Hugs!

  13. My favorite autumn memory has to be playing in the leaves. I grew up with lots of trees so my brothers and I would always make huge piles for jumping in. Now my yard has lots of leaves so my kids and nephews make huge piles for juming in. So fun to watch.

  22. Happy First Blogaversary!!!! You and DH look like you had so much fun! And I think your cards are just beautiful. How to choose?

My favourite autumn memories happened in the USA and especially in Canada, when all the poplar and birch trees changed colour in glorious splendour. In Australia we just don't get that spectacular seasonal change. It's either hot or cold, and that's it.

I'm still getting your blog candy ready, Lee! I have not forgotten, and you need it to arrive before too long, considering what is in it! I'll let you know when I send it off - he he!

  27. My favorite fall memory is picking pumpkins in the pumpkin patch behind our house. Now that I have a 3 year old I'm reliving that memory all over again and I love it.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I would say that my favorite memory of fall is just spending time with my dad working outside- raking leaves and me jumping in them. I also love the fact that it's so cool outside. I love fall weather!

    ReplyDelete
  29. What a great choice of cards your niece-to-be has to choose from! Wouldn't that top one with the dress make an adorable "sweet 16" birthday card, too?
You'll laugh--but my favorite autumn memory is when I was 7 months pregnant with our first son. I decided it was a shame to let the apples on the tree that I couldn't reach from the ground go to waste---besides, after making applesauce, the peelings and cores, etc., always got cooked down in a little water and strained--makes wonderful apple jelly! So, up a "lean-against the side of the house/roof" ladder I went--along with my even more pregnant best friend! We picked and picked all the fruit we could reach from standing on the roof of the house---ummm, getting down was a problem---neither of us could see our feet! lol And, somehow getting back into the same position we were in when we came up was completely impossible on a slanted roof! Luckily after about an hour, a neighbor passed and we had him call our husbands who had to get off work and come to the house and get these two pregnant ladies (and all their apples) off the roof. Boy, did we make some special apple pies for them that night! lol Thanks for putting a smile on my face today with that memory!
Happy blogaversary. I'd love to win some blog candy of Gina's stamps!

  31. Hm, my favorite autumn memory? That's a difficult one... I love the fall, but I've lived in the desert most of my life so Fall isn't the leaf-changing, cool breezes type of season that people normally associate with Autumn. So, I guess some of my favorite memories would be school starting. I always loved the first days of school, with new teachers, classrooms, friends, and school supplies! I still love the first day of school, even if it's my children going instead of me!

    ReplyDelete
  32. My fav. Autumn memory would be..playing with all the fallen leaves! xD

  33. Your wedding cards are gorgeous, I don't think I would be able to pick just one out of the three of them, I love all of them. The picture of you and your hubby is cute. A lot of times my hubby and I go somewhere alone and we do those stick the camera in front of you and take a picture together poses to. LOL!

My favorite autumn memory is just driving around taking pictures of the scenery. We have some fantastic mountain views around here and I love to take pictures. Autumn is my favorite time of year.

  34. Lee, the pic of you and DH is great! You both look like you are having such a great time!! How awesome that you are coming up on your blog-a-versary! I love the cards you created for your nephew and niece in law to be, I'm sure she will have a hard time picking a favorite card!

My favorite autumn memories happen every fall when we all go apple and pumpkin picking...what could be better than getting stuffed and sticky on fresh picked apples and having fun with the family? The kids always have such a great time seeing who can get the biggest pumpkin and of course who can forget getting sticky cleaning and carving our pumpkins into great Jack-O-Lanterns...and trying to make homemade roasted pumpkin seeds ;)

  35. My favorite Autumn memory just happened last year. We moved to Nebraska and visited a pumpkin patch where there are rides and food and stuff like that. It's so awesome because we never had anything like that in TX where I grew up. I love Autumn here in NE! :)

  36. My favorite fall memory is when we went to the Mesa for color Sunday. The leaves are sooooooooo beautiful when they change color. :0)

  37. my favourite Autumn memory? do I get to post about just one?!?! well, in that case.... I think it would be the fall that we took a family vacation from our home in Calgary, heading east.... ending in Cleveland, Ohio. One of the absolute best parts was the drive through the parkway there... autumn colours there were AMAZING!!! We just don't get the full range of reds & oranges here so it was Beautiful!!! Gorgeous!!! Amazing!!! Eye-poppingly Awesome!!!

but I have to tell you about my 2nd most fun memory.... jumping in the piles of leaves that we had just raked.... and then roasting freshly dug potatoes as we burned the leaves!!! YUMMY!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Congratulations on your blog-a-versary!! Time sure flies when you are having fun!

I have lots of fun fall memories, but some of the best were the get-togethers friends of ours had every fall. We had a huge bonfire, roasted hotdogs, marshmallows, etc., and had a great hay ride. There was a crispness in the air that made the fire so warm and comforting. There were friends of all ages enjoying the season and enjoying being together, and we always had a great time.

Thanks for the opportunity to win such generous blog candy! I wish you many more years of happy blogging! :-)

Awesome awesome blog candy, Lee! And I just LOVE your wedding invite samples. All so pretty. I was trying to figure out my fav and had a hard time deciding, so I'm glad you didn't ask us to post THAT for the blog candy! :D

Autumn memory....that's easy. DH and I were married in the fall! We had a wonderful wedding day...perfect weather, family, friends and the one I love. What could be better than that?

Other than that, raking leaves and jumping in them was always a fave as a kid. Oh and going to the apple orchard and getting cider and donuts after picking apples. Still do that with the kids from school!

  40. Love y'all's picture! Love the invites! Love the candy! And I love fall! LOL
Hmmm, since I'm still evacuated from Ike, how about my favorite memory from hurricane Rita.
It was October, a few days after my birthday, which was awful. I had come home the night before after being away from Jeff for two weeks (it's the longest we've been apart). We didn't have power yet, but had a generator hooked up to our microwave. I had stopped at La Madeleine's on my way home and bought us some chocolate almond croissants for breakfast and we had found some self-heating coffee drinks at the one grocery store that was open. A cold front had come through so it was nice and chilly. We sat on the front porch eating our buttery breakfast, feeling extremely blessed to be together. It was so peaceful even though inside there was no power, the kitchen was still boarded up, and the backyard looked like a bomb went off. Autumn rules and no hurricane can stop it!

  50. Oddly enough, one of my favorite Autumn memories took place in southwest Colorado. A number of years ago, my hubby & I took a trip to the Durango area (one of our favorite spots) when the leaves were changing -- took the narrow guage train up to Silverton and the beauty took my breath away. Thanks to Gina's blog, I just discovered yours and am settling in the the next while to take a gander through it.

The wedding cards are absolutely beautiful, love the soft colors too. It will be a tough decision for her to make. Good for you!
We live in Connecticut so we get a pretty beautiful color scheme here for fall. I have a lot of fall memories. I think that watching my oldest grand daughter trying to help Papa rake the leaves when she was about 2 yrs was the best. Took the pic and smile everytime I see it.
On another note, my DS just moved out to Boulder this week :(
As he was driving there, he called me and said that the sun setting on the mountains was the most amazing sight he has ever seen.
    Have a sparkling day.

Congratulations to your nephew and soon to be niece! The wedding invitations you made are absolutely gorgeous!!! You did such a wonderful job on them! It would be so hard to choose!

A favorite autumn memory...oh, that's hard to pick just one because I LOVE autumn! One of my favorite memories is from the fall when DD was 2. We were over at my parents' house and DD was playing in the leaves. There were some big piles raked up and she would back way up, run, and then leap into the big piles! Then she would roll around in the pile and bury herself in the leaves. All you could see was her little face peeking out. She would climb out and say, "Again! Again!" So we would rake the leaves back up into piles and she would start all over again. It was so much fun to watch her giggling with a huge smile on her face and having the best time playing in those leaves!

  77. I visited your blog for the first time earlier this morning. I love your wedding cards. I thought all morning to find my favorite autumn memory (autumn is not my favorite season)If trees are so beutifully colored it also means winter's coming soon with tons of snow. It's wayyyyy back in time. It's when I was at University. I really love that period of my life. Since autumn was the beginning of the scholar year, we were full of energy. I remember searching for benches in the sun, to read and enjoying the last days of the beautiful fall scenery. Just enjoying the sun on my face and most of the time I didn't read for a long time. I was just enjoying the time being. In these times, life was not as stressing than now.

    Favorite autumn memories:
Going to the pumpkin patch or apple orchard with my family. I love the fall colors we side along the ride up; love watching the girls run in the leaves and help us pick apples and pull the wagon. Love getting new pictures to scrap with in my shutterfly albums. The orchards always have fun little shops to go in and browse and enjoy free samples of this and that.

I love biting into a fresh Honeycrisp apple.

Making Pecan Pumpkin bread and tons of other pumpkin varieties is so fun too.

    Burning my fall candle scents.

Thanksgiving is just around the corner...and it's at our house this year so even more rejoicing!!

I can drink more hot tea b/c the air is getting chilly.

The garden finally slows down so I get into my stamp corner...oooo but it wouldn't be fun to have all this blog candy to play with!!!! ;)

I love hearing all the combines running out in the fields and seeing them traveling down the road (as long as I'm not the one behind them trying to get by!!)

I love the full moon on a dark, dark night!

I love the beauty of mums and pumpkins together and some fallen leaves collecting around them.

Well, this is long enough...Autumn is without a doubt my most favorite season.

  81. Those wedding cards are stunning!!! I love fall...the smell of the air, snuggling up in a blankie with a good book, getting out the warm clothes, the crispness of the air!! Just wish I didn't have the allergies to go with fall :( Oh well, I enjoy it nonetheless!!

  82. Hi Lee:
Guess I will try this again, and hope that no storms zap my internet this time! :-) My favorite autumn memory is going with our little one to the pumpkin patch, and hayride. It's SUCH a joy to see the sheer excitement in his face when he finds "THE" pumpkin! I know that won't last too many more years, so for now, that's it for me! Congrats on the anniversary!

  83. I think my fav autumn memory and still is Halloween. Especially with my kids now. We go to my brothers neighborhood, they just have a nice neighborhood. One lady always gives out 50 cent pieces. So we have a collection of those. Jenny

Probably cruising with my husband on our bike and enjoying the beautiful scenery with the wind in my face. Thanks, Christar
