Snowy Days = Stamping Time!!!

Ahhhhhhhh...........nothing quite as nice as a blustery, snowy day so I can stay inside and stamp, stamp, stamp!!!! With this cold/sinusitis I don't feel like doing too much anyway!! So here are my latest creations!!

House Mouse Wish.....this was another SCS challenge........Limited Supply. A list is posted of the only things we're allowed to use! This was tough!! White Cardstock, 2 designs of Patterned Paper, 1 piece of ribbon, 1 image that we could color, and optional sentiment. NO tools of any kind!!!! Just adhesive!! LOL

Escape! This is the first card I made with my brand new Wanted stamp set!!! And matching paper, of course!!! I love these Western stamps and papers!! Add a little hardware and twine and Voila!

Tea Time Tile........this was for an SCS challenge.......using Stazon. So why not make myself a little Mousie coaster??!! So I did.........but I used Twinkling H2O's for the first time and learned a LOT!! Like they need to dry in between colors so they don't run!! And I do hope they seal well so I really can use this as a coaster!!

Wintergreen! This was another Gina K. sketch she posted on SCS and on her blog! I love this layout!!! And am so in love with the Wintergreen SU paper!!!! I used the Let It Snow stamp set. Add some stickles and brads and a bit of gold cording for glitz!!! Gina commented on my card!!! :)

Sparkle!! Oh yeah........another SCS Sketch challenge...........and why not more snowflakes and glitter??!!!! LOLOL Perfect winter day for it!!! I used a fun snowflake embellie and some glitter........okay, well, lots of glitter!!!

More Challenge and Fun Cards!!!!

I'm keeping up with the challenges on Splitcoast...........and loving the new inspiration, techniques and everyone's samples!!!! So.......here are some challenge cards, as well as House Mouse!!! :)

This was for the Tuesday Color Challenge on SCS........Glorious Green, Real Red, and Green Galore. I wanted to make a non-holiday card..........so this is what I came up with!! I used the SU Love Matters stamp set, Black Stazon and SU Markers, a fun big prima with a red brad and the red double-stitched ribbon. I used the Photo corner punch and paper piercing for little touches.

This card was for the Gina K. sketch she posted on SCS as well as on her website! I LOVE Gina K. stamps!!!! And I'm especially addicted to the wintery ones!!! For this card I used Gina K....Got Snow? stamp set, Brocade Blue and Whisper White cardstock and some non-SU patterned paper. I used silver metallic paper I put thru the Cuttlebug with the Snowflakes folder. I LOVE metallic paper with the CB backgrounds!! I just used a Prisma Pencil and a snowflake brad and paper piercing for a little extra detail. Oh and guess what?? Gina commented on my card!!!! Made my day!!! :)

This was indeed a challenge for me!! A Splitcoast Technique challenge.............called Expressiomistic. Yeah, type THAT 3 times fast!!!! LOL It's sooooooooo cool!! But I need tons of practice!!! Basically you ink up your image and then spritz it with water and stamp it onto the cardstock. Let it dry and then stamp the image again on top of the slightly blurred image using a different color. Like I said........awesome technique........I just need to do some more to get the hang of it!! My first snowflake is hideous!! But it's hiding behind one of the oval punchies!!! LOL I used Pretty in Pink, Taken with Teal and Whisper White cardstock. Also used Pretty in Pink and Taken with Teal inkpads. Added a teal ribbon, some teal brads and a little stickles for some glitz!!

Awww.........how can anyone resist these little cuties???? I know I can't!!! So when a fellow Flybaby friend helped me out by adding this little stamp to my collection.........I just had to make a card!!!! :) A very seasonal card!!! I just used Garden Green cardstock with the Wintergreen Patterned paper. Added some heart brads and some fun ribbon and colored with Prisma Watercolor Pencils and used the Gamsol technique (mineral spirits).

New Light Box = Cool Photos!

This is fun!! Ok, so my dd is still doing most of the photography and staging........but it's so cool to have. Now to get some good photography books from the library and learn not by trial and error alone!!! ;)

Sooooo.........here is Jaimee's card...........she definitely has a different style than I do!! It's very clean and not glittery!!! LOL I think her card is beautiful! The verse is from the song The Lighthouse by the bluegrass/folk band Nickel Creek. I think she did a wonderful job!!!

Autism Awareness

My dear friend Keri posted this on her blog and I am doing the same! Although my son was not diagnosed with Autism.....he was diagnosed with a social phobia.....so kids with any special needs are near and dear to my heart!! And when will our society put the focus and money on the well-being of our children, our future?? I hope this little bit helps!!! The recording group Five For Fighting is one of my favorites.....and they are helping tremendously with this awareness campaign. Just click to view this video and another 40 cents goes to fund research. Thanks!!

New Light Box!!!!

Okay................so my friend who's the SU Demo had a Light Box that they were getting rid of. She gave me a FANtastic deal 'cuz one light is broken. Well.......kinda but not really......the switch doesn't work, but her hubby fixed it so that it still does work!!! They are such awesome friends!! Anyway...........I brought it home and was ready to start taking professional pictures!!! Only problem................I kinda forgot that I was NOT a professional!!! GRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!! My first several photos did not turn out super fantastic perfect.........and I was not happy!! Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeesh!!!!!!! So I went to the Grocery Store and let my daughter work with it! She has more creative staging ideas and definitely had more patience in practicing using it and taking TONS of photos of the same card. I think she did a teriffic job!! But we've still got lots of learning to do to get the settings and lightness and etc. just right!! But I am happy with my new acquisition......I must learn patience and patience and patience!!! LOL

A Birdhouse from Grandpa

My wonderful Father-in-Law made a fun and creative birdhouse for us!! Well, he bought the birdhouse from the jail where they have inmates learning various trades as part of a rehab program. Then he painted it!! I think he made one for each of his kids............there are 8!!! :) I think we'll wait until we buy a new house to put it up so we can get it nice and sturdy. James' folks are 70 and are super active and busy and fairly healthy overall........they can outdo us!!! LOL

My very first altered container!!

Okeedokee............here it is!! My first altered container!! I absitively posolutely LOVE the Cerise SU paper!!!! So just imagine this filled with home-made Hot Cocoa and cookies!!! I really enjoyed making this.....but did have some frustrations with it being so.......well.......round! Edges do not like to stay down very well! But I figured it out and what great gifts these make!! I have lots of family and friends....so I think I'll be saving all kinds of containers to alter and give yummy treats as gifts!!! :)

Cards, Cards, Cards!!!

Having sooooooooo much fun getting inspired to make more cards!! And to catch up with a fellow flybaby or two on messenger helps the time fly and the creative blocks not be so bad!!!

Here's my first EVER SCS Sketch Challenge!!!! It was funnnnnn!!!!!! AND.......wow!! Sure helps with creative blocks!!! I think I'm gonna be lovin' the challenges!!!

Had to make a little House Mousie card for a special thinking of you for a friend!! You just can't help but smile when you see these little guys!!

Glitter, glitz, shimmer, sparkle.............etc, etc....................I LOVE sparkle and glitter..........can you tell???? LOL This one was for my chemo patient I send cards too..........I hope it gets there at just the right time for her to have a smile and enjoy the holiday with her family! She found out she's cancer free..........so an extra special celebration is in order!!!!

Snowmen............toooooo fun!!! Just trying some different colors and designs!!

I'm LOVIN' the Gina K snowy stamps..........can you tell???!!! I love winter...........and snow........and cold...........etc, etc.............so this was just another For-Fun card!!!!

Fun, Fun, Fun!!

We had such a fun time at the Surprise 40th Anniversary Party/Talent Show for a couple at church! Lots of fun talents!! The little girls singing a Spanish Lullaby were soooooo precious!!! My favorite performance of the night was DD's group doing their Spanish Dance that they've been choreographing and practicing since June!!! :) The girls were just beautiful and the dance was the hit of the night as well as a perfect Finale!!!! Here are the pics of the girls and a pic of hubby and I!!!

Wishing You Joy!!!

Okay...........Sarah and I stamped another color challenge card "together" tonite. I chose the In Colors..............Blue Bayou and Groovy Guava!! I really like those new In colors!!! Well..........this layout was a direct CASE of a card I have in My Favorites in my SCS Gallery. I'm trying new things...........and thought this would be a bright and cheery hello for a friend!! AND.........I inked up my new Gina K. Make A Wish set that I hadn't used yet!!! Fun Fun Fun!!!! What's better than stamping with friends???!!!! :)

An Anniversary Challenge card!

Okay..........well.........I've been working so hard at organizing and re-organizing all my stampin' and craftin' stuff as I've got to be able to have my shhhhtuffff around.........but as I have to share my craft space with the living room and schooling area..........I really needed to re-adjust!!!! LOL It's still a work in progress......but I needed a really pretty anniversary card for a special surprise 40th Anniversary for a couple at church. And I needed it by Saturday. Sooooooooo.......I was chatting with SarahNel.........fellow Flybaby and SU Demo extraordinaire!!! She gave me a color combo with the set I told her I thought about using.................she did the challenge with me..........I LOVE messenger!!!! :) Anyway...............the colors were Choc Chip, Cranberry and River Rock. I had to substitute so I used Close to Cocoa, Pomegranate and River Rock. What do you think?????????? I am really trying to grow in my card making on not be so one-dimensional and predictible!!! I also restrained myself in my use of Stickles!!!!!! LOLOL

Stampin' Projects!

I am enjoying some Stampin' Time!! Soooo........I feel like such newbie still....after a year of stamping!! But I look at so many gorgeous designs on blogs and in the SCS galleries.........well, as long as I keep practicing and always have fun......I'll get even more creative juices flowing, right!!!?? ;)

Here's some recent creations...........2 smaller 4x4 cards for my Elf-ing packages!! My Elf pkgs couldn't be a surprise because of a special gift that was in them!!!! :)

Then an attempt at Soot Stamping without my wonderful instructor Sarah in St. Louis!!!! It's okay, but you can't see the blue spectrum ink under the soot........and I caught the C/S on fire too!!! Ah well............I did enjoy it and I think I salvaged it okay!!!

And, of course..........another glittery snowman!!!!! I LOVE glitter!!! And I LOVE snow!!! :)

And another treat box.........with an Autumn Theme this time!! I am lovin' making these and filling them with goodies to give away!!!!

Soooooooooooooo............you can see how I'm enjoying our wintery blast of snow and wind!! Inside toasty warm!!!!

Winter Is Here!!!!

Oh finally!!! After a quick tease of winter at the end of October.......it warmed up again.......we native Coloradans do NOT like that!!!! ;) So........some cold weather and some snow is so welcome!!!

How'd you all do making it thru the long cooking weekend???

I finally got my French Doors in my bedroom!!!!! Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!!!!!! We talked about replacing the old sliding door when we first bought this house...........over 6 years ago! The time was right, sale at Home Depot, AND we're getting it fixed up to put on a slow market! Oh well..........I'll enjoy them while I've got them!!! We do want to move to more acreage so we can spread out........but I will miss my view!! But if we get our 30 acres.......I'm sure I'll have an equally wonderful view!!!

Star Gazing is my renewing and peaceful activity now..............and I mean our Lighted Star on the side of the mountain that my French Doors face!! I was a volunteer Firefighter/EMT for over 10 years.......one of our duties was (is) maintenance and lighting of the Star. It's an OLD tradition that started in the late 60's/early 70's I was told. There's an annual Chili Supper fund-raising and then the official lighting of the Star on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. It stays lit until January 1. It's also lit for Memorial Day Weekend in honor of fallen vets and families can list loved ones they lost in the little local paper to honor that year too. It was lit on July 4 for the first time ever this past summer........and it was actually sectioned into Red, White, and Blue!!!! There are a couple of people that our family was very close to and that we lost, so it has a special meaning and comfort to us too!!

I'll see if I can get a good photo and post one!! I'll definitely have to get a framed photo to hang in my new house so I always have it with me!!!

DD turned 17 today........oh my!!! James and I had such a walk down memory lane........we just can't believe our baby girl is almost an adult!! It's completely surreal!!! And how proud we are of her too..........she gives the word "teenager" a FANtastic meaning!!!! :)

Well.............I've got lots of cards to make and crafts to organize............so I'll be back soon with a post full of pictures soon!!!!

I was TAGGED!!!!

How cool is that?! Okay, so still new to blogging....but having fun!!!! Christi tagged me, so here are my answers.............

1. If you could have $100.00 worth of scrapbook paper or assorted embellishments, which would you choose? Well, I'm a fairly new stamper who jumped in and bought stamps and embellies by the tons!! LOL So, I would definitely choose PAPER!!!

2. If you had to choose between using only stamps or ribbons, which would you choose? It would have to be stamps......as much as I love ribbon.....I don't know what I'd do if it's all I could use!

3. If you knew how to do both awesome cards and layouts but could only do one for a whole year…which would you do? Oh totally CARDS!! I love sending out smiles and making mailboxes happy!!!

4. Would you rather own a scrap book store or have your own scrapping room at home? Oh just my own lovely scrapping room all to myself at home.......now I'm in the Living Room!!! If I had a store, it would consume all of my stamping time!!!

5. What is your CURRENT card making or scrapping style? Pretty simple......but I want to break out and learn how to make those gorgeous detailed cards!!!

Here are the rules…………..Please answer the questions on your blog and tag 5 more people to answer the same questions……….make sure you list on your blog who you are tagging…

That was fun!!!! Okay.........I'm tagging...........

My DD and her blog..........

Yes............I have a very creative, imaginative, talented daughter............and she has a blog. Well, mom and dad made her keep it locked out at first..........but as she has zero personal info on it AND does have to approve comments before they're posted........we decided to let her open it up! She's hilarious and a writer with a TON of stories constantly in her brain!!! Feel free to wander over there and be entertained............thanks!! :) The link to her blog is in my favorites on the side and titled The Word Bender!

We're Home!!!!

What a fun, exhausting, interesting, sweet, windy, hot, cold, snowy, sunny, rural, city, short, long trip!!!!!!!! THAT's what happens when it's a 14 day road trip...........a little bit of EVERYTHING!!!! LOL I have to wait until James recovers before I suggest the next road trip!!! He's swamped at work AND quite worn out!!

Well, we ended our trip with Mt. Rushmore and Bear Country USA.............and I have to say...........we WILL go back!!! Here are just a few reasons why.............ENJOY!!!! :)

On The Road Again!!

Kansas City, here we come!!!!! A nice quick drive this time!! And then fun with Kerianne.........shopping and dinner out and yummy dessert (but we ALL shared just one dessert, so no calories whatsoever!!!) LOL

Then we got to go to Keri's and do some stampin'!!!! And found out that Keri has an adorable house and is very creative and talented!!! And that my dd is a wonderful designer of Wrapping Paper!! We had such a wonderful visit and I'm so sorry I left her stamping area in such mess!! Next time I'll have to build in some Flylady time after our stampin' time!!!

Minnesota!!!!!!!! Here we are!!!!!!!! :)

And with a bit of a hiccup............seems like traveling in the off-season is wonderful for avoiding the big crowds.....but in many of the colder climates, campgrounds are closed for the season!! But with such lovely and generous Flybaby friends we had a place to stay!! And a wonderful and beautiful and fun place to stay at that!!!!

The Kay-Are -Aiy Family had a plug in for our camper and yummy food and stamping and visiting and games with the kiddos.............and on and on!!!

The Kub even designed a quick altered object for us!! I also got to snuggle a little Flybaby baby!!! Check out our pictures!!!

Sarah took me to her craft room and I got to learn how to Soot Stamp!!! And also the Pearl-Ex and Versamark technique!!!! So........here's the photos!!!! Enjoy!!! The picture of the Soot Stamped cardfront doesn't do it justice!!!! YOU try taking a picture in a camper at midnight!!!! LOL

And Kansas City to meet Keri is next!!!!!!!!! Stay tuned!!!! LOLOL

Arkansas Fun

Yes........I know that sounds odd!! LOL But it's NOT the hot and sticky and humid and buggy season...........so we've had a wonderful time!!!! :) And to think we've already had snow back home!!!

Meeting fellow Flybabies........Stampin' Flybabies, that is!!! And shopping and eating and hanging out!!! What a wonderful way to meet friends and deepen friendships!!!

Camping at the KOA in Hot Springs was great! This is such a pretty spot!! James set up the shock-fence around the campsite, so the dogs were happier too to have a bit of freedom and not have to be constantly leashed!!!

We are camping in STYLE!!!! I'm so spoiled now with this camper!!! The kids are spoiled too........tv and laptops oh my!!! LOL Cody has been able to do a little fishing........not nearly enough, however!! DD has been on the laptop with 2 big college class projects.........she's ready for a break from schooling on vacation!!

Sooooooooooo........tomorrow we head up to St. Louis!!! Then on to Kansas City and then MN and then Mt. Rushmore and then home!! I'll try to update a bit more on the trip and post some pics too!!

Sidenote........"Poster Child" of Mine!!!

Just figured I'd point out that the odd, silly, funny, sarcastic, and otherwise strange comments on my blogs are my darling daughter who is almost 17. If you all can't tell, she's quite the linguist and is a very talented and aspiring author. She's sometimes bored out of her mind as mama has made her keep her blog very private and safe............so she wanders over here to have FUN!!!! ;) Truly......she keeps us laughing and in constant awe of her imagination and the fact that there is NO end to the stories she has in her pretty head!!! Some of you have met her (and also my hubby and son) and many of you will get to meet her soon!! I'll tip you off.......she's very shy and quiet in front of most people, so you'll just have to really get to "know" her on my blog!!

And to add to that............I can't wait to meet many of my Flybaby friends soon!!!!!! I already feel so spoiled as I've met Paula and Suzanne already!! WoooooooooHooooooo..........it's great to have so many friends!!!!!!!!!!! :)

It's PREP Time!!!!!

Wow!!!!! 5 days until we take off for a fun 2 week road trip!!! WHEW!! Still soooooooo much to do!!! Laundry, cleaning, packing, getting the camper ready, shopping, errands, arranging cat-sitting, mail pick-up, etc, etc!!!! But it will be so worth it!!!

I'm gonna get to meet MORE Flybaby friends!!!!! Yipppppeeeeeeee!!!!!!! AND get to do some birding and geocaching, and of COURSE stamping too!!! Yes............LOTS of my stampin' stuff is comin' along!!!

Sooooooooooo...............Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee, Missouri, Kansas.....................here we come!!!!!!!!!! Did I leave any out??????? Hmmmm.........will have to consult the AAA books and planner!!! ;)

Meanwhile..............hubby and kids have been VERY helpful in cleaning!! Now to get them to get all their shhhtufff packed!! 2 weeks is quite a long time to pack for!! (I'm tired and I'm NOT fixing the previous sentence even thought it DID end with a preposition!!!! LOL).

Stay tuned for pics and road stories!!! After all, we are Murphy's and yes, our Law does seem to follow us around!!!

A Wonderful Get-Away!!!

Who could ask for more??? A spectacular view, no interruptions, delicious food, stampin' time, snow in the mountains...................HEAVEN!!!

Hubby had a business trip to the Snowbird Lodge and I got to go!! It snowed the night we arrived, it was only a little over 8 hours to drive.......and what a wonderful Fall drive!! I packed more stampin' stuff than clothes!!! LOL

While hubby attended seminars and lectures...........I stamped in our hotel room with the views of the snowy pines!! I was a day or two late for WCMD, but I made several of our SCS Flybaby WCMD challenges!! What a wonderful time...........even though, of course I missed my kiddos!!!

But what wonderful technology with my laptop that we could chat on messenger and talk on the cell. And I had fun buying presents for them too!!

The dinners we had at the lodge were top notch gourmet meals (my kids would NOT have appreciated them!)........and we only splurged on dessert to share one time!!! ;)

Well............now back to the daily routines and getting the house ready to put up on the market and getting ready for our big family roadtrip!! Busy, busy days ahead!!

Thursday, October 4, 2007

YUK............YUK...............YUK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hate being sick! And with such beautiful Fall weather too!! But hopefully this means I'll be healthy for the two trips that are planned this month!!! A wonderful and fantastic part of homeschooling........... and being finished with online school's ridiculous demands........is off season vacations!!!!!!!!!!!! WooooooooooooooHoooooooooooooo!!!!!

I will get to spend a few lovely days with hubby in Utah's ski country as he has a business trip and I get to tag along!!! Kids.............stay home and clean and pack!!! LOLOLOL

At the end of the month..........big road trip with the camper, kids, dogs...........and quite possibly the kitchen sink!!!!! ;) More deets will follow soon!!!!

Ahhhhh............the end of summer!!

Oh what a happy day for me!! For me, October means Autumn, cool weather, snow, and EGGNOG!!! Okay, but this year we must be better with our food indulgences as a family! We all need to lose a lot of weight and be healthier. So..........this October will start some new family policies........we've made some babysteps over the summer in preparation.........but the bigger changes are coming!! It won't be easy on the kids, but somehow I think that's a slight cop out for me...........I think it will tougher on me!!! How much I use foods as "rewards" for myself and for all of us. My kiddos are growing up, and I only have a few more years to try to help "undo" much of what I've instilled since they were little!! Oh brother................well, at least I admit I was wrong, wrong, wrong!!! The kids have adjusted well to the small changes we've made......I'm very proud of them. But now we all need to find the motivation to get ourselves moving more!! With a bad knee, I'm definitely struggling in this area. But now that beautiful and cooler Fall weather is here, James will start up geocaching a lot more and get the kids to go with him more often. And hiking with the dogs DOES add to the calories burned!!!! LOL

So here's to a new season and healthy changes!!!

Yes..........we live in the beautiful semi-rural foothills near Colorado Springs..........but we want to live in RURAL Colorado and have some elbow room!!! After all..............we were here LONG before all these transplants!!! LOLOL

Here's a few pics of our drive and the area we're currently thinking about!! And what a gorgeous Fall day!!!

Stamp Camp Fun!!

Oh yeah!! Friends and Stampin'!!! :) We got to try two techniques I haven't tried yet and had a wonderful time too!! I love the Acetate card!! Just gotta remember to let the craft ink dry a bit longer! And the Criss Cross card was so fun to make!! Okay, I loved them all!
